Less than 3 weeks

We are now down to 20 days before our team gets on a plane. We took a break over Christmas and New Year's but are back to weekly meetings until we go. Last Sunday, we were also prayed over at church. Every team sent out on a global journey is "commissioned" by our church before they depart similar to Paul and Barnabas in the 13th chapter of Acts.

"While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off." Acts 13:2-3

In 2009, when we were living in Guatemala, we took care of Luisito and Venuncio while the rest of the kids went on their “paseo”. (see our posts from 2009) A paseo is an outing or a journey. For the kids at Hogar de Vida, it happens every January just before they head back to school. In 2009, Luisito and Venuncio were too little to go.

The kids all load onto a bus and head to the beach or to a waterpark for a couple days. It is special time for the kids . . . and lots of work for the adults! The kids will go on their paseo again this January. They are going for 3 nights this time. Luisito and Venuncio are now 3 and a half. Here is a picture of them from Christmas.

Part of the Lord’s vision for our time in Guatemala is to give the adults a paseo in February. They have agreed to leave our team in charge while they have some time to rest and have fun . . . without 30+ children! We are very excited to give them a break and pray that they will be blessed by their time away.

However, we have lots of planning still to do in our remaining 20 days. We want to have some activities for the kids. We need to plan a menu so that groceries can be purchased prior to our arrival. Then we need to pack all that we are bringing! The time will go fast! We would really appreciate your prayers. Thanks!
