Check out the Fickers' website.

We want to encourage you to click on our "Ficker Family" link to the left. The Fickers moved to Guatemala with their six children about 10 years ago. Duane Ficker was a pilot and Leslie was a nurse. They felt the Lord calling them to be involved in providing healthcare and support to the people living in the highlands of Guatemala. They now have three established clinics. These are the clinics that Don helped with when we were there in October. The Fickers have also had an airplane donated to them that Duane uses to fly into areas of Guatemala that cannot be reached otherwise. They feel called to these areas where the people are forgotten and forsaken. During the six months that we are there, we will be working with the Fickers in whatever ways we can serve them and their ministry. Read more about their ministry on their website by clicking on the link!

We have sold our Trailblazer!

We made a big step today. Don sold his trailblazer so that we can buy a Toyota that we will take with us to Guatemala. (We are still working on the details of getting a truck down there.) We will use part of the money to pay our house payment while we are gone. It makes the trip a little more real for us. Don has also talked to his boss about our options with his job. We had originally thought we would try for a "Leave of Absence" but we are feeling that this may put too much burden on the other PA's while we are gone. We are still working out the details on this, but we trust that the Lord will provide what we need for this trip but will also provide for us when we return. He is faithful!

We have a family who is planning on staying in our house while we are gone. They will take care of our dog and cats as well as move the snow and mow if necessary. This is such a huge burden lifted off of our shoulders. We pray that our house will be a blessing to them as well. More details to come!

Here we go again!

We have been approved by our church to take our next trip to Guatemala. We are planning a six month trip from September 2008 until March 2009. We are changing our focus a little this time. We are planning on staying with the medical missionaries that we have worked with in the past. We are hoping to also work at the Children's Home a couple days a week but our main focus will be medical. More details of our preparations for this trip to come!
