Our Project

We were so excited to have our family come to Guatemala for Christmas.  Don, the kids and I left for Guatemala City on the 23rd so we could have a couple days with just our family and see the new Star Wars movie, of course!  My famiy was scheduled to arrive on the 24th but were delayed until the 25th. We were super excited when they finally arrived.

Mom brought a 'Christmas tree' for the kids to decorate and to put the presents under!

We headed back to Canilla on the 26th and immediately we went to work.  Well, the kids did have some game time!!

Our project was converting a portion of the clinic into our new home.  We will eventually have all of the old clinic space when the new building is ready to be put into use.  For now we have a living room/dining room/kitchen space, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom.  This a picture of the main living area from several years ago.

Don laid the tile.  Jen is cleaning up the grout and adhesive from the walls.

Caleb is repainting a darker stripe around the bottom of the walls. It is a faux floor board for right now.  We would like to use tile as a 'floor board' but we aren't sure if we will have enough.

We also started working on the clinic space that will eventually be ours.  This is the main clinic room.  A mural of a tree was painted on the wall with pictures of some of our nutrition kids.  It is great for a clinic space but we decided we didn't want it in our eventual living room space.

Scott is high on a ladder trimming the same wall.

Caleb and Scott were able to get the whole room painted.  We replaced all of the clinic equipment for now.  Once everything moves out we will do one more coat and then move our things into the space. Here is an old picture of the entire room. Watch for an 'after' picture once we get moved!

I didn't get a picture of Mom!  She worked so hard cleaning up everything before we moved it over. Jen and she helped move my entire kitchen over one day.  They also helped us move the kids into their bedrooms.  They are super excited to have a boys room and a girls room instead of all four in the same room.  We didn't get completely done while my family was here but they were such a blessing to us.  Don and I were the last to move. We are a little squished but we got everything in and it is feeling like home!

These are not the best pictures but it should give you an idea of the transformation!
