In the States

If you don't follow us on Facebook or live in one of the four states that we are journeying to within our 3 week trip, you may not know that we are currently in the US.  It has been a year and a half since we have been in this area of the world.

We are halfway through the journey.  We began the adventure in Kansas City to celebrate our oldest's 21st birthday.  The truth is that my heart wanted to spend more time than the very short two days that we had.

We have been to Arkansas to see relatives and say 'good-bye' to my aunt that is now sitting at the feet of Jesus.  We made a stop at Sardis Methodist Church to say 'thank you' for their support over the past three years as well as drop off baskets and coffee!  We hugged many who have become like family and were humbled to be prayed over by the body that has committed to walking with us.

Our next stop was Omaha where we dedicated an evening to expressing our appreciation to those that have carried us through the fulfillment of our initial 3-year commitment.  We asked them to consider journeying with us for 3 more years as we continue this assignment that the Lord has called us to walk.

Omaha is also the place where we do all the things that wait for us to return. Renewing Don's driver's license, eye exams for everyone, errands for the things that will replace the baskets in our suitcases.

We have eaten chik-fil-a, Chinese food, curly fries at Arby's, lots of BBQ, and some yummy pizza.  That list is almost finished! We also plan on attending some movies that don't include Spanish subtitles flashing across the bottom of the screen.

We have two more Open Houses to host and another state to visit before we begin the process of returning to our home in Guatemala.  The time flies yet it goes slow.  The time is never long enough to spend with those that we love yet we start to get anxious to return to our routine.

Why are we here?  Why do we make this journey every year and a half or so?

The Lord has given us an assignment that requires a crowd of people standing with us.  We can't walk this path alone so we commit time and resources to the relationships that He has provided.  We are here to express our appreciation and love to those that have partnered with us and to ask others if they would join us.  We want to hear what the Lord is doing here so we can pray and lift up those that are praying and lifting us up.

We don't have pictures of us with BBQ sauce on our faces or of us hugging those that we have missed so this post is a little different from our usual ones.

We will be in SD this coming Sunday and back in Omaha on the following Saturday.  We would love to give you a hug and catch up a bit.

We will return to our normal post format next month ...
