Tons of Fun!

We had the privilege and honor of speaking at a chapel service today for Blair Christian Academy.  To be honest, I was very nervous.  They told us it would be about 60 kids from ages 4 up to 5th grade. Maybe it was the range of ages that made me anxious?  Maybe it was because a friend of mine was the one who asked us and I didn't want to let her down? Not sure, but I had butterflies.

Caleb and Bethany started us out with some worship. They did a great job and it helped me to focus on the Lord and His peace.  My heart was that these kids would know more about Jesus and what He was doing in Guatemala - not more about the Allison family!

I started out by giving a little bit of my testimony focusing on 2 'S' words - Surrender and Seek.  I had to 'surrender' my plans and desires and enter into a relationship with Him.  He then promises that He has plans and purposes for each one of us (Jeremiah 29:11,13) but He also calls us to 'seek' after Him. The kids were so smart and involved from the moment I started.  They made the whole thing so much easier! It was fun to interact with them.

We watched the video on the hospital in Guatemala and then had a little geography lesson.  We walked through the trip that our family will be making when we drive to Guatemala in January.  It was so fun to pick my 'volunteers'.  They all wanted to participate.

We then answered some questions at the end and asked all of them if they would pray for us as we continue to prepare to step out.  It was my pleasure to pray for all that the Lord wants to do in each one of them.  Such a great group.

We handed out 'fridge magnets' with our family picture on them as reminders to pray as well as prayer request cards.  Don also found some 'typical' Guatemala suckers to share.

It was such a fun experience.  There was no reason for the butterflies!!  I am pretty confident that we ended up being the most blessed by the experience!!
