Fun on Larimore Street

Our church, Lifegate Church, is helping another ministry restore a house in a inner-cty neighborhood. The house is on Larimore Street which has been known for violence, drug dealing and prostitution in the past. Since the ministry, Abide Network, has had a presence there, the neighborhood has been changing in awesome ways. There are about a dozen or so abandoned houses just on that street. The goal of the project (and future restoration projects) is to gift the house to someone who is a part of Abide's local church. These new homeowners will then be able to bring the life and hope of Jesus to the neighborhood by reaching out to their neighbors as well as bring some stability to the area.

The last two Saturdays, Don and Caleb have had the opportunity to work at the house. They are in the "mudding" phase, hoping to move onto painting soon.

This Saturday, Bethany, Hannah, Samuel and I were also able to participate. Along with restoring the house, Lifegate and Abide have planned monthly outreaches to the neighborhood. Today, we delivered cookies and invited people to a Valentine's Day dinner/talent show hosted by Abide's church, Bridge Church. We, along with other people from both Lifegate and Bridge Church, walked along Larimore St., knocking on doors, giving away cookies and then asking if we could pray for them. We prayed for health issues, job and financial issues, a grandson with asthma etc. etc.

We had so much fun. The kids enjoyed it as much as I did!

The people living on Larimore St. were so awesome. We are sad that we will be missing the March outreach but so excited to be going to Guatemala! We did get this photo of our rental house today. Notice the baƱo on the right!

Things are coming together, if only, I could find some time to pack!!
