Field Trip

We went on a field trip today to Los Cerritos, a small area of Mayan ruins close to Canilla. Los Cerritos means "Little Hills" in Spanish. There was a temple and a ball playing field as well as other small structures. The kids had so much fun. We took a picnic and lots of pictures!

Here is the temple with the beautiful mountains in the background.

Here is the ball field. I found several references to a ball game that they played during this time period. Some information compared it to raquetball or volleyball. One article also said that the game involved human sacrifices.

Caleb on top of the temple ruins.

An action shot of Samuel with his sword!

An action shot of the girls!

Here are the girls (and Venuncio!)

Here are the boys (Venuncio should be in this picture!)

By the way, this is our 100th post! It is appropriate that it is of something fun. Tomorrow it's back to clinic and school. Thanks for reading.
