Time at the Home - Part II

The night with the baby wasn't too bad but we were up early. Don had clinic and I wanted to get some things done before the day started.

Samuel took a picture of Don while he was doing his quiet time. Samuel said he really liked the mountains in the background! Notice Alicia on the table in her basket and the large cup of coffee next to Don!

Norm has been making the kids cinnamon rolls on Sunday mornings. Here he is with his helper, Beni, checking to see if they are done. We were very excited that he had enough for us as well!

Sunday is the day that the Home allows visitors in to see the children. Oralia and Sebastian like to have Norm and Vickie help keep an eye on the children during the visiting time. We helped out with keeping the kids busy. We pulled out puzzles and coloring books etc. We had also brought a couple activities with us.

Soon visiting time was over and we moved onto lunch. After lunch I made 60 rolls for the kids afternoon snack. This is kind of a tradition that started with Dena Stromstad. She and her husband started the Home many years ago. They call the bread "pan de Dena" even if she isn't the one making it! It is really fun to continue on this "tradition".

Finally Don returned from clinic - Sundays are always long clinic days with lots of people. He continued "clinic" when he returned to the Home by removing a splinter from Melisa's hand and then diagnosing and treating a bladder infection for Angelita. He said that Melisa was his favorite patient of the day! Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture.

Sunday night is church. Don drove the Home's pick-up with a load of kids. Church started at 6:30 pm but we were a little late. We weren't the latest; however, many came much later in true Guatemalan style! Church was really good but it is all in Spanish. Our heads hurt before it is all over. Don took a load home at about 8:30 pm and then went back for some more. The kids and I were in the first load so we grabbed a snack and then got ready for bed.

The second night with Alicia was much easier than the first but the next day started just as early!

Makes me feel like I'm there, without the baby wake-ups! Thank you so much for taking the time to share! We are praying into your time!
